The Design Conference Brisbane

Always wonderful to spend a day at The Design Conference in Brisbane. THe Powerhouse is such a fantastic venue and we always come away having spent time and reconnected with industry friends new and old.  This year the option to stream what you might miss in the months after meant lots of chats and no fear of missing speakers. Mike Stewart the champion bodysurfer had us wanting to get amongst the waves and chats with Rachel Gogel inspired.

Lovework Team Away Hobart, Tasmania

Lovework team gathered in Hobart back in May. We enjoyed a glorious few days refocusing, reflecting, being inspired, celebrating and planning! A trip to MONA, shared meals and some lovely coastal walks by Seven Mile Beach. Brilliant, as always, to spend some time together IRL.

Team Away: Melbourne

Our team’s Melbourne trip was the perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together in person. We stayed at The Standard X Melbourne, which was a great base for the trip. The rooftop quickly became our favourite hangout for drinks, giving us the chance to relax, chat, and catch up outside of work. It was the ideal setting to unwind, enjoy each other's company, and take in the laid-back vibe of the city.

We popped into the local Ball & Doggett showroom to check out some lovely stocks and pick up samples. Lovely to have crispy new swatch books to refer to. Gorgeous paper stocks we’ll be put through some pretty rigorous scuff testing too.

The Design Conference in Brisbane.

A highlight in June is The Design Conference in Brisbane hosted by the energetic, great guy Matt Haynes. A brilliant opportunity to catch up with so many of our graduating class this year. Always love an excuse to chat design with past colleagues and collaborators and new friends. Highlights included hearing from Studio Emmi on wellbeing, laughing along with Dom and Rob from Mucho, and the thoughtful approach of Kelvin Soh from DDMMYY. Team Away: Piha Beach New Zealand

We travelled to the West Coast of Aotearoa and stayed together in a gorgeous space. It was wonderful to explore, retreat, reflect on and reconnect as a core team. We spent some time planning and refreshing the ebs and flows of our Lovework rituals (looking at weekly, quarterly and annual practices). We cooked meals together, shared beach walks, and hiked in the forest, realigning on the focuses we have collectively and individually for the year ahead.

Future State Conference in Auckland, Aotearoa.

This May we were inspired and challenged when we headed over to Auckland, Aotearoa (New Zealand) and attended Future State by Semi Permanent. A brilliant conference with a focus on Technology, Innovation, Productivity, Sustainability. Håkan Nordkvist, Former Head of Sustainability Innovation for the IKEA Group spoke about mindset transformation for new business opportunities and circular economy ideas.
